Powerfields Schools, a Cambridge-approved institution offering pre-school, primary and secondary education (day and boarding), has reaffirmed its commitment to raising confident, well-rounded, and future-ready learners with the successful hosting of its 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition.

The biennial sporting event, held at the Egbin Power Football Sports Field, provided an engaging platform to demonstrate the school’s holistic education model, where academic excellence is intentionally balanced with character development, physical wellbeing, leadership and teamwork.

Located in a secure and serene environment in Ikorodu, Lagos, Powerfields Schools continues to distinguish itself through a strong values-based curriculum and modern learning infrastructure.

These include an innovation centre with music, AI and robotics laboratories, alongside cookery and hospitality labs facilities designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, digital competence and practical life skills from an early age.

The 2026 Inter-House Sports brought together students, parents, guests, and members of the wider community in a colourful celebration of athleticism, discipline and school spirit.

Students competed across a range of track and field events, including sprints, relays, long jump, novelty races and team-based competitions, displaying confidence, resilience, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the day.

Speaking at the event, the School Administrator, Mrs Ngozi Emezue, described sports as a critical tool for holistic child development.

“Sports provide practical lessons in discipline, teamwork and perseverance. These experiences help our students build confidence and develop the character traits required to succeed both within and beyond the classroom”, she said.

She further encouraged students to view the event as a platform for showcasing their team spirit and resilience.

“Sports is about resilience. Every competition is an opportunity to grow stronger, more disciplined, and more united. Moreover, it also fosters a sense of community and imparts valuable life skills, such as teamwork and leadership, that extend beyond the playing field. We are immensely proud to see our students embody these principles at this year’s Inter-House Sports,” Emezue remarked.

She congratulated Blue House, winners of the overall competition, while encouraging other houses to approach future editions with renewed strategy and determination.

Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, Engr. Matthew Amadi commended the school’s leadership for its clear vision and consistent investment in holistic student development.

He praised the students for their competitive spirit and urged them to pursue excellence both academically and beyond the classroom.

Other guests applauded the seamless organisation of the event and the impressive coordination, talent and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students, qualities they noted as clear indicators of a nurturing and well-structured learning environment.

The management of Powerfields Schools reaffirmed that sports remain a core pillar of its educational philosophy. Structured sporting programmes are deliberately integrated into the school calendar to support confidence building, emotional intelligence, teamwork and leadership development alongside strong academic outcomes.

Owned by Egbin Power Plc, a subsidiary of Sahara Group, Powerfields Schools continues to set a standard for quality education, combining global curriculum, innovation, character formation and safe learning spaces to prepare students to thrive anywhere in the world.
