Private Public Partnership Is The Way To Infrastructure Development – Adeyoye

Posted on October 11, 2019

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, has expressed the present administration’s readiness to partner with the private sector in developing roads and other critical infrastructure to fast-track economic growth in Lagos State.

Engr. Adeyoye, who disclosed this while welcoming a team from Coronation Asset Management Company to her office in Alausa, opined that public infrastructure anywhere in the world is better managed and run under Private Public Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

She stated that road infrastructure is an integral part of the six development agenda of the present administration and urged the company to consider partnering with the State government in the on-going road construction and rehabilitation works to ease traffic congestion across the metropolis.

“Road infrastructure is a major factor in any nation’s development because it is a catalyst that drives the economy. I, therefore, urge you to look into our various road projects and tell us your area of interest for Private Public Partnership (PPP). The present administration is open to business and we will welcome any investor that shares our vision for a Greater Lagos”, she said.

According to Adeyoye, creating access to rural and riverine communities, through the provision of motorable roads and other infrastructures that could better the lives of the residents of those communities, is of paramount interest to the State Government.

She explained that Private Public Partnership (PPP) arrangements that are capable of reconnecting people in the rural communities and coastal lines would be greatly appreciated by the present administration, adding that other areas for such partnership also include, but not limited to, the Lagos Coastal Roads, Regional Road Network and Fourth Mainland Bridge amongst others.

“We are very eager as a government to create access to our rural communities and provide infrastructure in coastal areas. It is our responsibility to develop our waterways, we want to provide good schools in our riverine communities, and since government alone cannot do it because of funds paucity, we are open to partnership that will help us to meet the needs of the people who gave us the opportunity to serve them”, Adeyoye stated.

The Special Adviser reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the successful completion of various ongoing road projects and assured that massive work would resume on priority projects, which Lagos Badagry Expressway, Agege Pen-Cinema Flyover, Agric/Ishawo Road, Ojokoro Phase I & II and Command/Ejigbo NNPC Road, as soon as the rains subside.

The Chairman of Coronation Asset Management Company, Mr. Abubakar Jimoh, commended the present administration for commencing governance on a high note, especially with the signing of the Executive Orders on refuse, traffic management and public works by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

While applauding the government for its readiness to partner with the private sector in developing critical infrastructure to fast-track economic growth, he also gave assurance that his Company was also ready to collaborate with the State government, especially on Public Asset Management, Tourism, Works and Health.
