Purge Yourselves From Iniquity -Lagos Speaker Tells Police

The speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa on Thursday urged the Nigerian Police to purge themselves of their bad ways in order to reclaim the confidence of the members of the public as they perform their duties.
Obasa stated this at the Police Command headquarters at Ikeja, Lagos during the campaign, ‘Change Begins With Me’ organised to sensitive the officers by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni.
The campaign was one of the cardinal agenda of the inspector General of Police to reorientate the officers to brace up with the anti-corruption crusade of the present President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
Obasa, who was represented at the occasion by one of his aides, Mr Tunde Ibrahim said there were negative perception of the Nigerian Police of their deeds in the past which they need to change.
He however, noted that not all police officers are bad, but those bad ones among them have dented their image to the point people think all the police are bad.
He said the public are ready to work with the police in as much they have confidence on their performance.
In the same vein, Dr Joe Odumakin, President, Women Arise have urged Nigerians to give the police maximum support in order foe them to perform their duty.
She noted that the police had bad image in the past but have improved tremendously in recent time and that is why they should be given support to perform more better.
Odumakin said the police have their rights as citizens have and advised that we should also respect the rights of police while performing the lawful duty.
CP Owoseni in his remarks said the occasion was to sensitize the officers to shun any form of corruption while performing their lawful duty.
He said the campaign was going round the police formations and the mantra is the police should change within themselves and when they change, it will translate to their general performance for a better society.
He commended the IGP for the noble vision as he claimed it has already started showing good result.
