Queens At War, As Curtains Fall On Asisat Oshoala Women Tourney
Papa Queens ready for the final of Asisat Oshoala Grassroots Women Championship on Friday in Mushin, Lagos
Organisers of the ongoing Asisat Oshoala Grassroots Women Championship are expecting tough game between Papa Queens and Owo- Igbe Queens in the final of the competition scheduled to hold on Friday at St Jude Primary School, Ilasamaja, Mushin in Lagos.
Owo- Igbe Queens humbled Aseyori Queens 4-0 while Pap Queens defeated Macamura Queens 4-2 on penalty shootout after one goal apiece at the regulation time.
Match coordinator, Kazzem Alabi said the competition had produced and discovered some young talents that can represent the country in the nearest future in the FIFA organized football tournaments. He said he was impressed with the quality of players that took part in the tournament, saying that the finalists deserved to play in the final.
“ The finalists has emerged and I am impressed with the performance of all the participating teams and di believe that the closing ceremony will be more glamorous and action packed considering the fact that the two finalists have not lost a match on their way to final,” he said.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Emmanue Osahon said the two teams gave good accounts of themselves and they deserved to reach the final stage of the competition.
“Both teams are unbeatable on their way to the final so we are looking forward to the exciting final because we want to see which team would win the trophy,” Osahon said.
Meanwhile, the tournament is sponsored by a member of Super Falcons, Asisat Oshoala who said she is sponsoring the tournament to give back to the society. She said players discovered from the tournament would be invited to Asisat Oshoala Foundation for further training and mentoring.
