Recruitment Of 6, 000 Teachers In Imo Is Neither Political Nor Fraudulent
BEN AHANONU
Let me state categorically that pursuant to his desire to provide qualitative learning and the best standard of education for Imo children, the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, graciously lifted the embargo on employment of new teachers for primary schools in the state by approving the recruitment of 6,000 new and well-trained teachers.
Governor Uzodimma also provided 1,800 Tablets that were distributed to schools in Imo State.
To the best of my knowledge, the decision to employ 6,000 qualified teachers by Governor Uzodimma, is genuine, commendable and has no political undertones, hence it will be tantamount to witchcraft, sheer wickedness and willful promotion of falsehood for anyone to allege or insinuate that the exercise is fake or what some call “political job.”
The rigorous process for the recruitment of the 6, 000 primary school teachers, which includes Computer Based Test (CBT) among others and the integrity of the government agency handling it point to its authenticity.
It is a well-thought-out programme for the promotion of sound education in Imo State from the cradle.
The project cannot be classified as political by any measure because it is permanent employment and the gains are tremendous.
Of course, when 6, 000 people are employed it means a lot for the immediate families and Imo State.
It is therefore annoying that some people, who do not mean well for the state are already castigating the effort and classifying it as political grandstanding.
I think the subjective critics are suffering from irreparable amnesia and mental disability otherwise there will be no reason to mouth off or write anything negative about the teacher-recruitment exercise, which is not like the hasty and ill-fated recruitment of 10, 000 Imo people by the administration of former Governor Ohakim, which compelled every applicant to buy a scratch card of N2,000 from designated banks to complete the application process with KPMG as the consultant.
Imo people especially the applicants are happy and enthusiastic about the recruitment of 6,000 teachers irrespective of the futile attempts by detractors to condemn the genuine effort of the administration of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma to lift Imo people out of poverty and improve the standard of education in the state.
What Uzodimma is doing is entirely different, authentic and enduring. The aim is to employ qualified and competent teachers for the Imo School System as part of the efforts of government to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in Imo State with emphasis on the rural areas.
It is therefore abstruse that some people are nefariously equating the well-packaged employment exercise being conducted by the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) with what they call “political jobs” just because the gubernatorial election is around the corner.
According to Emeritus, a leader is someone who is in charge of organizing, guiding and managing others. They are visionaries, who motivate and encourage their people to reach desired outcome. Indeed, understanding the role of a leader may be more crucial than ever in today’s world.
Leadership is also a complex web of service and responsibility embedded in human groups. One central obligation of good leaders is to embody the identity of their group by acting in line with group norms and needs.
In Imo State presently, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as a good leader, embodies the identity of Imo people, acts in line with the needs of Imo State, possesses self-awareness, altruism; has immense credibility, focuses on relationship-building – as a great unifier; has a bias for action, exhibits humility, remains visionary and authentic, fully present – constant and consistent, empowers others.
Since assuming office as the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has constantly and consistently offered good and qualitative leadership rooted in selflessness and a desire to meet the core needs of Imo people.
He came prepared with the 3Rs of Shared Prosperity as encapsulated in Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
From day one, he outlined his vision for Imo State and has vigorously pursued it with credibility, consistency and transparency.
In fact, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is the most humble, honest, sacrificial and peace – loving leader that Imo State has ever produced.
He talks gently, forgives easily and ever ready to offer an olive branch. He believes in unity of purpose and has a firm goal of lifting Imo people out of poverty and bad governance, that had been debilitating encumbrances to the development of the State.
Apart from the good roads he has constructed, Governor Uzodimma is also focusing on empowering Imo people especially the youth of our future so that they can use their overflowing energy for meaningful purposes.
For instance, the Skill-Up Imo project, which is all about creating content that can be marketed using digital tools, has the broader objective of training 300,000 Imo people over the next three years, with 100,000 trained each year; connecting 60 percent of the trainees upon graduation to high-paying jobs as well as empowering 40 percent of them to become their own bosses as technological entrepreneurs by establishing their own companies, among others.
Equally, the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, had on the 4th of September 2023 approved payment for the health insurance coverage of over 37,000 Imo workers that will enable them receive healthcare services from the hospitals assigned to their Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Imo State Health Insurance Agency, IMSHIA, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike: “The Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, had earlier provided financial risk protection for over 85,000 poor and vulnerable citizens of the state.”
Despite the evil machinations, insinuations and false accusations of his political opponents (like the recent laughable and false accusation of looting of Imo treasury by the jittery and doomed gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Sam Daddy Anyanwu), Gov. Uzodimma is coasting to victory on November 11, 2023.
Governor Uzodimma means well, loves Imo people and will do even better in his second term of office as majority of Imo people are ready to vote for him in appreciation of his stellar performance so far as Governor.
God bless Imo State!
