In an unprecedented and epoch-making development in the history of Ikeja Local Government, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has presented 500 free JAMB forms to indigent and qualified students across Ikeja.

The landmark initiative, under the AKOD Education Support (AKOD-ES) Programme, further demonstrates the Chairman’s unwavering commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment within the local government.

The Chairman, who was ably represented at the ceremony by the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, formally presented the forms to the visibly elated beneficiaries.

In his address, the Council Chairman reiterated that education remains a central pillar of his administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda. He emphasized that the future of Ikeja lies in the hands of its young people and assured the students that his government will continue to invest in programmes that create access to opportunities and remove financial barriers to academic success.

He urged the beneficiaries to see the gesture not merely as free forms, but as a call to responsibility, discipline, and excellence. According to him, “This is an investment in your future. We expect you to justify this opportunity by studying diligently, excelling in your examinations, and becoming worthy ambassadors of Ikeja”.

In her opening address, the Council Manager, ably represented by the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Comrade Jubril Aliu, commended Comrade Dauda for his sustained interest in education and human capital development, particularly among the youth. He described the initiative as a life-changing intervention and encouraged the beneficiaries to justify the Chairman’s confidence in them by coming out with flying colours.

Also present at the presentation ceremony were the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Adeniyi Adeniyi; Councillors representing Wards E and F of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Tunde Folami and Hon. Ganiu Lawal; the Head of Department, Education, Mr. Femi Ogundele; Head of Department, Budget and Planning, Dr. Anita Razak; Head of Department, Legal, Mrs. Bailey Olubusola; and other members of the management staff who witnessed the historic occasion.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed profound gratitude to the Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda, for the rare opportunity and pledged to study hard, excel in their examinations, and make Ikeja proud.

This initiative adds to the growing list of educational interventions by the AKOD administration, including free GCE forms, back-to-school support programmes, and youth empowerment initiatives.
