A group, the Transparency Group in the Maritime Industry (TGMI), has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, reinstate the suspended Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman to Office to enable her continue to render selfless and incorrupt services to the Nation in the maritime industry.

The Concerned members of the group who spoke on conditions of anonymity to avoid being witch-hunted in the maritime sector said they decided to channel this appeal to Mr. President to reinstate Ms.Usman to Office to continue her excellent job because they absolutely believe the fraud allegation levelled against her by some unpatriotic and unscrupulous elements in the maritime industry is not true, and that the phantom allegation is a plot to push Ms. Usman out of the
Nigeria Ports Authority for fighting corruption in the maritime industry which necessitated her stepping on toes.

The group maintained that if the fraud allegations are true, why is it taking the panel set up months ago to investigate Usman have not been able to come up with findings.

They further stated that on assumption of office in 2016, Ms. Usman swung into action by restructuring the NPA, blocking revenue leakages through transparent process and increased revenue base.

She also unrelently waged war against corruption and in the process stepped on big toes in the maritime industry.

The members of the group insist that the allegations levelled against Usman is a case of corruption fighting back.

The members of the Group therefore said they are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard the antics of the elements who had been milking and want to continue milking the Nigeria Ports
Authority dry and reinstate Usman back as the Managing Director, because according to them, she had been able to reposition and place Nigeria Ports Authority on the path of prosperity as never witnessed
in the history of the Agency.
