Rivers State Police Command Receives 6 Armoured Gunboats To Enhance Maritime Security

The Rivers State Police Command has announce the delivery of six (6) armoured gunboats generously donated by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IGP Kayode Egbetokun, NPM, PhD.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that this strategic donation aims to strengthen security within the maritime sector of Rivers State and reinforce the fight against criminal activities along the waterways.

 

The Inspector-General of Police was ably represented at the commissioning ceremony by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations, DIG Ali Mohammed Ali.

In his address, DIG Ali expressed profound appreciation to IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his unwavering commitment to ensuring safety across Nigeria’s waterways. He further urged stakeholders and residents of Rivers State to continually support the Police in their efforts to maintain law and order.

 

The event was honored by the presence of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo. The Governor commended the Inspector-General of Police for aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through this significant gesture. He also praised the Rivers State Police Command for its relentless efforts in combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens.

The event also had in attendance; the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 16 Yenagoa, AIG Adebola Hamzat, the Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State, CP Francis Alonyenu Idu , Chairman of Maritime Union, Israel Pepple, Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee, Voke Emore, Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical unit commanders.

 

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, emphasized that the addition of these armoured gunboats will significantly bolster security operations in the state’s waterways. He assured that the newly acquired assets would be utilized judiciously to curb criminal activities and enhance the safety of maritime operators and residents alike.

The Rivers State Police Command has extended its gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for this invaluable support and reassured the public of its dedication to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
