Four daredevil armed robbers on Sunday night attacked a popular hotel robbed a few customers but met stiff resistance from the members of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, and one police officer DSP Edegen Edekin Sunday who succeeded in resisting their attack.
One of the VGN members identified as Samuel Sunday was injured and hospitalised but they succeeded in recovering AK-47 rifle from the robbers.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at about 9.30 pm in the popular Paradise Hotel located along Idimu Road at Ikotun, Lagos.
It was not certain what the customers present had lost before the VGN and DSP Sunday resisted their attack. The robbers hurriedly escaped leaving behind one AK-47 rifle used in the operation.
It was gathered that the gun has been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Ikotun Division as exhibit.
An eye witness said that they were drinking in the hotel when the robbers stormed the place and threatened to kill the customers present there. The witness said they shot sporadically and at the same time dispossessed customers of their phones before the VGN mobilised themselves and resisted the attack.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that when the robbers sensed that they were being rounded up, they hurriedly escaped but by then they have already lost their gun.
When our correspondent visited the hotel, the owner declined to make any comment and referred the reporter to the police at Ikotun Division. At the Ikotun Police Division, the DPO was not around for comments.
However, police sources at the division confirmed the incident and said the police recovered one Toyota Corolla they used for the operation and parked it at the station.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that it was not the only place the robbers had robbed before they were resisted at Paradise Hotel.
It was learnt that the same robbers went and robbed Precious Hotel and a petrol filling station at Igando the same day.
