Sales Manager Sent To Prison For Allegedly Stealing Employer’s N100m Spare Parts
Operatives of the Nigerian Police Zone 2 Command, Lagos have arrested one Paul Ilechukwu Okeke, 48, a Sales Manager at the Trade Fair Complex, Lagos, and dragged him before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly selling spare parts valued at N100 million belonging to his employer, Anthony Ohinweuba and converted the money to his use instead of remitting the money into his employer’s account.
Police said that the complainant uncovered the alleged fraud when he audited his stocks and petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade who swiftly directed his men to arrest the defendant.
After investigation by Adam Abubakar and his team, the defendant was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a four-count charge bordering on stealing, conducts likely to cause breach of peace and threat to life.
Police Prosecuting Counsel, ASP Francis Igbinosa told the Court in the charge marked W/58/2024 that the defendant committed the offence between 2022 and 2024 at Block D4, Shop 14 Trade Fair Complex, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos.
Igbinosa informed the Court that the Defendant sold his employer’s spare parts valued at N100 million and converted the proceeds into his use instead of remitting the money into his employer’s account leading to his arrest.
Igbinosa further told the Court that the defendant threatened to kill the complainant if he dare asked him of the missing money again.
He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under Sections 411,287, 168 and 52 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2015.
The defendant, however pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate A.O Alogba granted him N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
