Sanwo-Olu Affirms Commitment To Greater Lagos Project

Speaking yesterday at a Workshop organised for Imams and Central Mosque Officials by the Lagos State Council of Imams and Ulama with the theme: “Mosque Management – The Role of Every Individual”, held at the Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island, Governor Sanwo-Olu said his commitment to the Lagos Project remains unshaken.

The Governor, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat said: “Our commitment is unwavering and our determination to bring to reality the Greater Lagos of our collective desire in unshaken”.

While thanking the residents and religious leaders for the support and prayers that the administration has enjoyed over the years, Sanwo-Olu emphasised that such support and prayers had contributed immensely to the realisation of various programmes aimed at improving the well-being of Lagos residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave an assurance that government would continue to count on the support and prayers of the faithful as the administration approaches the end of its first tenure in office and looks forward to peaceful, free and credible elections in Y2023.

Acknowledging that the mosque plays a vital role in the lives of every Muslim as a place of worship as well as centre of knowledge and socialisation, Mr. Governor added that the Imam and other members of the management committee also play crucial roles in ensuring that the mosque and its environment are properly maintained.

He emphasised that like every organisation, leaders of the mosque should play an essential role in encouraging and inspiring the people to contribute their quota towards achieving a common goal.

Earlier in his welcome address, Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Suliamon Oluwatoyin Abu-Noulla, disclosed that the workshop was organised with the objectives of improving the capacity of Chief Imams and Mosque officials to effectively and efficiently carry out the responsibility of managing the affairs of the Mosque in line with current realities and global best practices.
