The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been conferred with an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by the Rome Business School, Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu was honoured with the doctorate on Saturday during the 2025 Graduation Ceremony of Rome Business School, Nigeria, and the presentation of the Honorary Doctorate Award held at Victoria Island, Lagos.

The founder of Rome Business School and Rome Business School, Nigeria, Prof. Antonio Ragusa, said Governor Sanwo-Olu was conferred with a Doctorate in Business Administration in recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the development and wellbeing of Lagos State.

He said Governor Sanwo-Olu’s visionary approach and valuable initiatives have significantly contributed to the economic growth, social progress, governance excellence and promotion of education, equality and justice in Lagos State and Nigeria.

“His honourary degree honours not only his remarkable contributions but also his continuous legacy of service and leadership that inspires future generations,” Prof. Ragusa said.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to quality and affordable education in Lagos State.

He said his government, within six years in office, has increased the number of state-owned universities from one to three with the establishment of two new universities, as well as building more public schools across the State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who congratulated all the graduands, assured them that the doors of collaboration, innovation, and partnership remain wide open for every mind ready to think differently and work diligently.

He said: “Today is special because of the conferment of the Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration. This honour speaks to impact, to dedication, and to meaningful contributions to our nation’s business landscape. It is a reminder that excellence does not go unnoticed.

“Let me speak directly to our graduates. You are stepping into a world that is changing rapidly. Technology is transforming industries, innovation is reshaping economies, and leadership today is defined not by titles, but by the value you bring to the table. What you have gained here should reflect not only on your certificates but also in your mindset, your attitude, and your character.

“Wherever you go from here, go with confidence. Go with integrity. Go with the willingness to solve problems rather than complain about them. I believe strongly that Nigeria will rise—and when it does, it will be because of people like you. People who have taken the time to prepare themselves. People who see opportunity where others see obstacles.”

The Governor also commended the management of Rome Business School for their unwavering commitment to knowledge and character development, noting that “When an institution consistently produces graduates who can compete anywhere in the world, it is clear that something exceptional is happening within its walls.”
