In furtherance of its determination to ensure that infrastructural development gets to all parts of the State, the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration is set to hand over yet another set of roads; the Badagry Network of Roads, to be inaugurated on Wednesday 6 August.

The Badagry Network of Roads consists of 3 road networks, namely Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road, Samuel Ekundayo Road, and Hospital Road, cutting across Badagry Local Government and Olorunda Local Council Development Areas.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed this in a statement on Monday at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

In his words, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has in the last few months handed over 39 Roads, 5 Bridges to Lagosians.

According to Omotoso, the State government considers Infrastructure as a strategic economic growth driver and a catalyst for development.

He said “the administration of Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hazmat, envisioned the provision of Road Infrastructure in the T (Traffic Management and Transportation) Pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, to enhance trade and commerce, boost multi-modal transportation, and open up remote areas”.

Desirous of completing the network, the administration of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hazmat, awarded the Rehabilitation and Upgrading of the Aradagun -Mosafejo–Ilado- Imeke Road project to complement the earlier virtually commissioned 6.65km, double lane single carriageway with a 300m Bridge of 9m width connecting Imeke, Ajido,  Iworo/Whispering Palms to Epeme Road and the bridges from Imeke to Ajido/Iworo/Epeme communities to serve as an alternate route to link the Lagos – Badagry Expressway.

Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Road, another strategic arterial road, was executed to link Joseph Dosu Road from Samuel Ekundayo Road/Toga Road Intersection, and connects the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The project also connects to the Aradagun Mosafejo project and serves as an alternative route to a section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Badagry Roundabout to Limca/Ibereko.

Hospital Road (Phase 1), a strategic road that connects Idale, Akarakunmoh, Povita, Topo, and Ajido communities to Lagos-Badagry Expressway via Joseph Dosu road, commences from the Agbalata Market Junction to Lagos State University (LASU) Foundation.

Located close to the Marina, Badagry, Hospital Road hosts several tourist centers such as the Agiya Tree Monument, First Storey Building, and Early Missionary Cemetery in Nigeria, Heritage Museum, Eko Theatre, Badagry VIP Chalets, Badagry General Hospital, and other public facilities.

To date the State Government has continued to complete projects that hold tremendous socio-economic benefits for the people.

No doubt the Badagry Network of Roads will boost trade and commerce, provide access to several tourist centers, serve as an alternative access route, improve the interconnectivity of communities and the well-being of the people, through an increase in communal interactions and commercial activities, as well as increase the State and National Gross Domestic Product.

The delivery of the Badagry Network of Roads once again underscores the commitment of the current administration, led by Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hazmat, to implement programs that fast-track development and projects that bring relief and shared prosperity to the people.

Through these projects Lagos State Government has continued to provide livelihood for Lagosians, and contributed to the development of a sustainable intermodal Transportation system in Lagos State.
