A 35-year old security man, Mark Dalami, has landed in trouble after he was employed as a security guard at Beneve Schools Ikotun, Lagos and thieves stole some properties at the premises and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the management of Beneve Schools handed him over to the Police at Ikotun Division over his failure to apprehend the criminals while he was employed as the school security guard.

Thus, he was charged for conspiracy and  failure to use all reasonable means to prevent the commission of a crime as a security guard.

According to the Police, the guard and one other now at large had between 24th and 31st August, 2025, conspired and failed to prevent criminals from stealing school properties and were liable for the commission of the crime.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Mark Dalami ‘m’, and one other at large, Between 24th and 31st day of August, 2025, at about 1845hrs at Beneve Schools Ikotun, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

COUNT II: “That you, Mark Dalami ‘m’ and one other at large, on same date, time and place, in the Aforesaid Magisterial District, did fail to use all reasonable means to prevent the commission of a crime as a security operative and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 410 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
