We Sell Stolen Cars To Ladipo Market Traders -Suspects

Police detective led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, DSP Timothy Falowo Adeola have arrested two suspects, Dala Usman, 24 and Abubakar Garba, 21, who confessed that they actually snatch cars and sell to Ladipo Market traders at give away price in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The suspects, Usman, and Garba, were arrested along with two Ladipo Market traders, Asogwa Chika, 24 and Chike Umeh, 35.
Garba confessed that he was introduced into the business by Usman and he had to abandon his job as Commercial motorcycle rider and faced the illicit business squarely before they were arrested.
Bornu State-born Usman said he came to Lagos few years ago after terrorist attack displaced his community.
He said initially, he was afraid but when he tried the operation and it worked out, he decided to continue in the business.
They were brought and charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court on Thursday with conspiracy to commit felony and stealing under the Criminal Code.
Usman and Garba pleaded guilty for stealing one unregistered Honda Cross Tour SUV valued at N6 million belonging to one Lateef Ademola Giwa. They stole the SUV and handed it over to Chika and Umeh to sell it at a give away price of N1 million.
However, when Umeh received the SUV, he drove and parked it in his house at 21, Mustapha Street in Isolo and they were secretly looking for a buyer before the police got the information about the stolen SUV and arrested them.
Chika and Umeh pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Gabriel Ekundayo asked the court to give a date for the trial of the suspects.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
While Usman and Garba who pleaded guilty had their trial adjourned till 12 Ocotober 2016 for fact and sentence.
