Senator Adeola Concludes Fifth Oloja Yayi Programme, Empowers 10,000 Traders Across Ogun State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has concluded the fifth edition of the Oloja Yayi Market Men & Women Support Fund Programme with the empowerment of 4,000 market men and women from Ogun West Senatorial District, bringing the total number of beneficiaries across Ogun State to 10,000 traders.

The Ogun West edition, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State, followed the successful rollout of the programme in Ogun Central and Ogun East, where 3,000 traders each received support under the initiative.

Organized in partnership with the National Productivity Centre, beneficiaries received a non-refundable grant of N75,000 each to strengthen their businesses, improve cash flow, and enhance their economic resilience.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Adeola said the programme was established to address the financial challenges confronting market women and men, particularly the need for working capital necessary to sustain and expand their businesses.

Senator Adeola noted that the support fund is a grant, not a loan, and is intended to provide relief to small-scale traders while stimulating grassroots economic growth across the state.

He urged beneficiaries to invest the grants judiciously in their businesses to improve profitability and expand their operations, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining initiatives that improve livelihoods and promote inclusive economic development.

“When small businesses thrive, families prosper, and communities grow. Our market women and men are the engine of our local economy, and this empowerment is about providing them with the support they need to expand their businesses, create more opportunities, and contribute to Ogun State’s economic growth. We will continue to invest in initiatives that put our people at the centre of development,” he said.

The programme was complemented by ongoing infrastructure interventions designed to enhance commercial activities across Ogun State, including the construction of ultra-modern markets in Abigi, Mobalufon Trailer Park, Ogijo, Isaga-Orile, and Panseke, as well as the installation of solar-powered boreholes and solar streetlights in major markets to provide a safer and more conducive trading environment.

The event was attended by the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun; former Deputy Governors of Ogun State, Alhaja Salmot Badru and Prince Segun Adesegun; Senator Adeola’s wife, Chief (Mrs) Temitope Adeola; Dr. (Mrs) Yemisi Salako, wife of the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare; Hon.
