Preparatory to the grand reception and home coming of the National Scribe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (Sam Daddy), the Ikeduru born political boardroom strategist has started consultations across party lines as to woo as many aggrieved members of both ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and other party leaders from different political parties to join hands with him in rescuing Nigeria from the shackles of the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration.
The former Senator and National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sam Daddy, alongside the retinue of his colourful entourage paid a courtesy call to the Imo pioneer Commissioner for Foreign & International Affairs, Hon. Dr. Fabian Ihekweme, at his Abuja residence.
Senator Samuel Anyanwu, we gathered was accompanied by Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, a former Reps. member for Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba Federal Constituency and frontline contender for Imo West Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Bature, National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo, National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, a former Reps. member for Okigwe Federal Constituency, Hon. Tony Onu, Chief George Igbo, among other party stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The National Scribe of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Anyanwu, expressed his dismay over the inability of President Muhammadu Buhari APC led government to address the security impasse across the country as this disturbing issue has become a recurring nightmare to many Nigerians as people can no longer ply the Abuja-Kaduna Road, Abuja Suleja Road, Abuja-Kogi Road without fear of being ambushed , kidnapped or killed by the bandits. He therefore, urged Dr. Fabian Ihekweme to return back to his family, where he is truly celebrated.
In his short speech, Dr. Fabian Ihekweme, a dangerous boardroom political strategist, think tank and pioneer Imo Commissioner for Foreign and International Affairs, thanked his August visitors for such courtesy call while admitting that a political party is just a vehicle through which one achieves one’s political ambition. In what seemed like a positive nod to join the party, which according to Dr. Ihekweme was the first political family that most Nigerians identified with at the inception of modern democracy in 1999, he promised to use every available arsenal within his reach to deliver the Peoples Democratic Party in Okigwe Zone; Obowo, where he comes from.
Recall that Dr. Fabian Ihekweme, sound, bridge builder and good team player, was a major thorn in the flesh of the Rebuild Imo Administration under Governor Emeka Ihedioha as he floated ‘a Shadow Government’ which aim was to counter a number of the policies, programmes and projects execution of the Emeka Ihedioha Government while Hope Uzodimma kept pushing his case in the Court.
According to keen observers of Imo politics, that singular act of running a parallel government in Imo State was a huge distraction to the then governor, which later fetched the Obowo born politician and scholar a place in the newly inaugurated Shared Prosperity Administration of Gov. Hope Uzodimma.
Unfortunately, he was eventually sidelined by his former political Ally, Senator Hope Uzodimma, before the governor later dissolved his cabinet as Omu did not make the list of reappointed members of the Uzodimma cabinet.
The coming weeks and months promise to be engaging as the likes of Dr. Fabian Ihekweme and other aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress and other government appointees, who were either dropped or benched may join forces with the organised opposition in Imo State to wrestle power from the current government in the state.
