Senator Ekwunife Isn’t Part Of Circulated Petition Against APC Primary Election – Aide Clears

Posted on April 5, 2025
Following circulated petition regarding the APC Primary Election in Anambra State and the candidacy of Chief Obiora Okonkwo, the Special Adviser (Media) to
Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), CON, Ph.D, has dissociated his principal from the purported petition.
While clearing the air on the matter, Senator Ekwunife’s aide, Mr. Tony Ezike said, “Our attention has been drawn to a malicious publication being circulated by faceless anti-progressive elements in a failed attempt to link our principal, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife, CON, to an imaginary petition purportedly signed by her and five others on behalf of the Elders and Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, dated 30th March, 2025”.
“We wish to categorically state that Senator Uche Ekwunife has never, under any circumstances, written a petition against anyone for political reasons. As a seasoned lawmaker and political leader, she understands that politics is often laced with spurious allegations, blackmail, and treacherous statements against perceived political rivals, especially during electioneering campaigns and other activities. However, she has consistently chosen to rise above such petty antics.”
“Funny enough, the address they used, 65 Agu-Awka, Awka South LGA does not exist anywhere except in the purveyor’s imagination and treacherous mindset, because Agu Awka is a community with streets, crescents, avenues, and closes with identifiable residences and offices, all properly addressed.”
“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have glorified the mischief makers with a response, except for the need to set the records straight before the public to whom the falsehood must have been circulated.”
“Let it be known that Senator Ekwunife has a well-known pattern of appending her name and signature to public documents; a standard not met in the so-called petition. A simple comparison reveals a striking difference between the forged signature and that of our principal, further exposing the deceitful intentions of the originators of this falsehood.”
“To be clear, Senator Uche Ekwunife does not rely on anonymous letters or petitions to express her stance on political matters. Known across the country as one of the most outspoken and courageous voices in Nigerian politics, she would rather engage in direct, honest dialogue than indulge in underhanded tactics.”
“If there were any concerns regarding the actions or decisions of Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, she would have addressed them with him directly, although such a situation does not exist, given that Prof. Okonkwo remains her very good friend and political associate.”
“The general public, and members of the APC in particular, are hereby advised to disregard in its entirety the unfounded and unauthorized association of Senator Uche Ekwunife, a highly reputable APC stakeholder, with this baseless and ill-intentioned petition.”
“The creators and promoters of this falsehood are advised to focus on resolving their own political woes and refrain from dragging Senator Ekwunife into their web of confusion.”
“Once again, we reaffirm Senator Ekwunife’s unwavering commitment to the growth, unity, and success of the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.”
