The Media Office of Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) said that their attention has been drawn to a trending story purporting that the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Ekwunife, made comments concerning the Presidential ambition of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, HE Mr Peter Obi.

According to Kingsley Ubani, SA Media to Senator Uche Ekwunife, in the erroneous story making rounds on social media, it was reported that Senator Ekwunife told a gathering of party stakeholders not to vote for Peter Obi. This is far from the truth but rather the machination of underformed political opponents.

“As the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra Central Senatorial District, Ekwunife convened a meeting of PDP stakeholders in the Senatorial District to assure them of her preparedness to win her re-election.”

“The trending story is the handiwork of politicians, especially those contesting against the Senator in other political parties who are jittery that Ndi Anambra Central have come to accept Senator Ekwunife as a brand that cuts across party lines. In a civilised society like ours, campaigns should be based on the individual’s competence, antecedents and records of performance – attributes that the Senator exemplifies.”

“Senator Ekwunife remains undeterred by the conspiracy orchestrated by retirement-bound politicians whose relevance are dependent on the dissemination of falsehood. She is committed to running her campaign riding on her overwhelming performance in the Senate, and therefore urges her supporters to dismiss the trending story in its entirety.”
