Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s Burial Programme Released

As the nation prepares to bid Senator Ifeanyi Ubah ( CON) goodbye, the National Burial Committee has released the official funeral arrangements for the late senator, marking a period of national mourning for the respected Nigerian politician and businessman.

 

According to a statement made by the secretary of the committee and National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the comprehensive schedule spans multiple cities, reflecting the far-reaching impact of Sen. Ubah’s life and career.

 

According to the schedule, the funeral proceedings will commence in Lagos with a Night of Tributes on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island. The evening of remembrance will be followed by a Commendation Service the next day at the Church of Assumption in Falomo, Ikoyi.

 

The nation’s capital, Abuja, will then host two significant events which will be a second Night of Tributes scheduled for Monday, November 18th, at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites followed by a special Valedictory Session in the Senate in honour of Senator Ubah at the National Assembly Complex, underscoring Sen. Ubah’s contributions to the nation’s legislative body.

 

The focus would then move to Nnewi, Anambra State, which is Sen. Ubah’s hometown, for the final series of ceremonies. A Christian Wake, also referred to as a Service of Songs, will take place on Thursday, November 21st, at the late Senator’s palatial home in Umuanuka, Otolo Nnewi, while the climax of the funeral rites will be the Funeral Mass slated for Friday, November 22nd, which will also hold at Sen. Ubah’s residence. This solemn occasion will be immediately followed by funeral activities and condolences, providing an opportunity for friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to pay their final respects.

 

The commemorative events will continue through the weekend, with additional funeral activities on Saturday and a Thanksgiving Mass and Outing Service on Sunday at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Otolo Nnewi.

 

Dr. Arodiogbu, who bemoaned the loss of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah noted that nothing would be spared in the planning and execution of the funeral activities to ensure that Ubah was given a befitting burial.

 

Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah was a prominent figure, who featured heavily in philantrophy, politics and business. His passing has elicited condolences from across the nation, with many recognizing his contributions to the development of Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.

 

Arodiogbu noted that the events in Lagos and Abuja were expected to draw attendance from the business community and political class, while the hometown ceremonies in Nnewi will likely see a large turnout of same including his kinsmen, supporters and family members.

 

The National Burial Committee has urged all Nigerians to join in honouring the memory of Sen. Ubah and to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
