It is no more a rumour. Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) has been adjudged the third best performing Senator in the 9th Senate; the best Senator all round from the Southeast. It’s not a hearsay, friends.

For some of us who understand the person of this Amazon, a woman of unbridled dedication to any assignment she found herself in,  we will never be surprised. Iyom grew up with that; service to mankind.

Enumerating Sen Uche Ekwunife achievements one by one, from her 8 years in the House of Representatives, to 4 years in the Senate will stretch from here to Kaura Namoda. But something struck me as I passed a small village, Obeledu,  Anaocha Local Government recently. Students and teachers, as well as the Igwe and the people of the community were singing a song of praise for Senator Uche Ekwunife for all her accomplishments in the small community, but especially for remodeling the only community secondary school in the town.  I stopped and watched.

All over Anambra Central Senatorial District,  no community is without the signature of Iyom’s benevolence and inpactfulness. What gladdens the heart of everybody; be them Ndi Igwe, Town Union Executives, the clergymen,  the women, the youth and practically everyone is the level of human touch and empowerment Iyom deposits to the joy of all.

In market squares, inside schools, on dilapidated roads, town union halls, at the Palace of Igwes, public places or playgrounds, Sen Uche Ekwunife did projects, renovated and constructed new roads, gave employments to hundreds, secured federal grants to hundreds of constituents.

Thirty six 3 bedroom bungalows were constructed and funished for widows, the poor, the indigent, those who never dreamt of having roofs over their heads. Scholarships are being enjoyed by many, while hundreds who benefited from her Scholarship scheme have graduated and gainfully employed.

Many have been taught how to fish and are fishing without let or hindrance. Hundreds have had their lives permanently changed because of Iyom’s touch. It’s amazing, friends.

Many youth and women have benefited from all manner of special trainings; from solar installations to technology and science training, to tailoring, to furniture making, etc. It’s huge.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University is currently benefiting from a standard Science & Technology Innovation building that will be of great benefit to the students.

Sen Uche Ekwunife, Adaugo Igboukwu did not forget her husband’s community. A standard beautiful Community Hall have been built, furnished and commissioned for the enjoyment of the community.  In her town, Igboukwu,  roads are being constructed, a 20 Bed Medical Center is now ongoing at St Barnabas Church, Igboukwu,  while at St Michael’s Primary School, (Ngo Primary school) classroom blocks and building are receiving the touch of Sen Uche Ekwunife’s magnanimity.

Friends,  it’s happening all round, and so are the *Song of Praises* that millions are singing for her. As Ifekaolaedo enjoys the songs of praise, seeing the joy emanating from the faces she has touched, the people and the country are looking forward to her higher office as she aims higher to continue serving the people, the communities, the country.
