Chief Sir Felix Idiga – cofounder, JAFAC Foundation and a front line aspirant for the Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that Senator Hope Uzodinma’s joining of APC was not a threat to his aspiration to the Green Chambers.

Chief Idiga opined that the coming of the senator from the PDP to APC should not be a threat to any member of the APC since there was no law preventing any Nigerian from defecting to parties of their choices.

Idiga spoke in relation to a recent statement credited to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, that Senator Uzodinma joined the party “through the back window” and that Imo APC was not aware of his membership as it was the party’s National leadership that knows about Uzodinma’s joining and even received the senator into their fold.

“I do not see why anyone should be threatened about the declaration of the senator for the APC. As far as I am concerned it was no threat at all. The senator personally informed me of his intention during a brief meeting with him at an airport some weeks back, so I am aware of this.

“I don’t think members of the APC should worry about this or get divided over it. We have been here in the party and our doors are open to receive people wishing to join our party. Ordinarily his joining us should cause us to celebrate unless he was coming with a different agenda”, the Amaifeke born philanthropist explained.

He added that as the congresses of the party were coming, that members should concentrate their interests and energies on how best to elect the best and trustworthy members of the party to run its affairs.

“What should bother our party men and women now is our coming congresses. We must begin to look at, and fish out reliable party members to lead our party beginning from the wards to the national level. For me, that is what I’m concerned about, not a senator that just joined us. That is normal” he said.

Idiga also disclosed that his aspiration to represent his constituency in the House of Representatives is a divine call. He noted that his constituents were solidly behind him and would vote for him at the elections.

He enjoined party faithfuls to file out during the congresses and the elections proper to vote for good aspirants and reliable hands to lead the party to victory at the general elections.
