The impact of Saturday’s APGA campaign rally has dealt a great blow to the opposition parties in Anambra State, especially those with some false sense of importance or pseudo-capacity. I think INEC should commence a categorization of political Parties, just like the Central Bank of Nigeria does with the Banks. This will help the people understand the true reality of some of these Special Purpose Vehicle parties as nothing more than alien forces distant from the grassroots.

It is no longer news that a Party like the APC does not exist in Anambra State. At best, what they have here are a group of politicians with dual membership and zero loyalty. The same can be said of the Labour Party, where a bulk of their members exist only on Twitter accounting for Olumide Akpata’s 85% victory on Twitter and other Social Media platforms but came a very very very distant third at the Saturday Edo Governorship polls with less than 3% of the total actual vote cast.

When the National Leader of APGA, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, reeled out the names of political parties that fielded candidates in the upcoming September 28th Local Government elections in the State, it was not so surprising that only APGA ticked all the boxes. Capacity is not assumed, it is shown at times like this. For us in APGA there is no greater vote of confidence on our Party than this stern reality that in Anambra, we are the Party with the people’s support.
