Two weeks after its release, Eleko (Oba Esugbayi) continues to enjoy strong momentum at the box office, with audience excitement growing steadily since its opening day.

Across cinemas in Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Osogbo, Akure and other cities, moviegoers have kept up the energy that defined its debut weekend—filling halls, applauding scenes, and celebrating the story of Oba Esugbayi Eleko.

Viewers have widely described the film as “refreshingly different,” “historically rich,” and “deeply educating,” praising its cultural depth and engaging storytelling.

“This is not just a movie, this is our pride walking on the big screen!” said Mrs Taiwo Adebisi after watching the film in Lekki. “The costumes, the chants, the palace intrigue – everything felt so real.”

In Ibadan, Mr Oladapo Adeyemi added, “The cast and crew turned history into living, breathing fire! When the king faced the British officers, the whole hall was shouting ‘Eleko! Eleko!’”

The buzz has remained consistent into the second weekend, with audiences in multiple locations commending the film’s authenticity and emotional impact.

Reacting to the sustained reception, producer Jide Kosoko described the outing as highly rewarding.

“It is a great and satisfying outing and the acceptance of the film has been very encouraging and the feedbacks from cinema audiences have been simply electrifying,” he said.

He also expressed optimism about even stronger turnout during the holiday period.

“I believe there is even more indication that more people will troop to the cinema during the Easter holidays to watch ELEKO (Oba Esugbayi) with friends and family,” he added.

With positive word-of-mouth continuing to spread, Eleko (Oba Esugbayi) is maintaining its strong run and looks set to draw even larger audiences in the coming weeks.
