Seun Idowu, a journalist, musicologist, and motivational singer, has launched Rising, a 13-track album designed to nurture the human spirit, strengthen resilience, and celebrate purposeful living.

Released on 5 November 2025, Rising signals a new voice in contemporary African musicone committed to depth, reflection, and the elevation of humanity.

Describing it as music with purpose, “Music is oil for the soul,” Seun Idowu explains. “It should smooth rough edges, strengthen character, and inspire people to live better lives. With Rising, I wanted to create songs that uplift, energize, and encourage reflection.”

Rejecting superficial trends, Idowu’s work prioritises dignity, moderation, and human-centred storytelling.

Each track carries a message of hope, resilience, or self-improvement, designed to leave listeners empowered and inspired.

The album also highlights:

Rising opens with Gbe Body (Dance), a lively track that sets a celebratory tone.

Other tracks include: Sise Jaye: an affirmation of life’s purpose and the rewards of effort.

Temptation and Addiction: candid reflections on personal challenges.

Rise Again an anthem celebrating resilience and renewal.

Able People and Mo More heartfelt songs combining hope with soulful expression.

Instrumental versions also accompany the original tracks, highlighting Idowu’s compositional skill while providing space for reflection and contemplation.

For his life shaped by music and reflection, Seun Idowu was born into a home where poetry and gospel music were integral, Idowu grew up immersed in artistic and spiritual influence.

His father, Adedayo Idowu, a gospel musician, poet, broadcaster, retired teacher, and pastor, instilled in him a belief in music’s transformative power.

Idowu formalised his craft academically, earning a first-class degree in Music from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where he also served as president of the Music Students Association of Nigeria, and a Masters in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan.

His background in journalism, documentary filmmaking, and entrepreneurship further enriches the storytelling in his music.

His album is also for reflection and growth, Idowu describes Rising as more than an album.

“It is an invitation to rise, to confront challenges, and to embrace second chances,” he says. The album’s title reflects this theme, inspired by the idea that setbacks are not permanent and growth is always possible.

His music spans genres, shaped by inspiration rather than rigid classification, blending Afro rhythms, soul, and motivational lyricism.

Every song is self-composed, reflecting his commitment to authenticity, creative independence, and human-centred storytelling.

On availability and audience engagement, Idowu said Rising is accessible across all major streaming platforms and the single Gbe Body (Dance) is accompanied by a music video on YouTube.:

Idowu then encourages listeners to engage with the music actively by sharing it, reflecting on its messages, and using it as a source of inspiration and motivation.

“I want my music to make people stronger, not just entertain them. It should build resilience, promote positive thinking, and remind people that they can rise again, no matter their circumstances,” Idowu added.
