A sex-starved housewife, Sa’adatu Ayuba, has filed a suit before Grade 1 Area Court in FCT, Abuja, to end her 27-year old marriage to her husband, Jalija, claiming that he was no longer meeting her sexual needs after five children.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embittered Mrs. Sa’adatu told the Court that she got married to Jalija in 1997 under the Islamic law, and they have five children together.
However, she said that over the years, she has been unhappy in the marriage because her husband had not been able to meet up with her needs as a woman including her sexual desires.
The embattled wife told the Court that the situation had caused her emotional pain and frustration, and despite their long years together, she could no longer continue living in such a relationship.
Mrs. Sa’adatu said she had tried to endure the problem for the sake of peace and her children, but things had not improved as she continued to groan over sexual needs and believes that ending the marriage is the only way to move forward and find happiness.
“I got married since I was 16 years old. I have never been with any other man before my marriage. I have been having misunderstandings with my husband for the past two years because he has a girlfriend.”
“My husband is impotent, and he has not been functioning as a man. I am tired of the situation and want divorce in the interest of peace,” she said.
However, the husband, Jalija, denied the allegation and told the Court that he was not impotent because he had taken another wife and was fulfilling his roles as a man, informing the Court that the woman he married had already given birth to a child for him.
He further claimed that he had been carrying out his responsibilities as a husband towards the petitioner which she disagreed, insisting that the woman in question was not his wife but his girlfriend. She also stated that she had no knowledge of any marriage between her husband and the said woman.
The presiding judge, Malam Saminu Suleiman, advised the couple to try and resolve their differences peacefully and adjourned the case to a later date for report of settlement of the matter.
