The Police alleged that the suspect lured the girl to a place and engaged her in sex, which later got exposed and the girl’s parents reported to the Police that the victim was raped.

He was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation. At the Gender Section, he reportedly admitted that he slept with the girl with her consent and it was not a case of rape.

However, the Police found him culpable because of the age of the girl and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Ajibade, ordered his remand in correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 27th July, 2021.

The 21-year old defendant risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
