Showtime Wildcard Showdown Begins As Lagos Knights, Raptors And Rebels Fight For Final Playoff Spots

Posted on May 24, 2026

The road to the Showtime Bowl Series XIV championship reaches boiling point today as the Wildcard round takes center stage at Showtime Arena, Meadow Hall, Lekki — with three explosive matchups set to determine who joins the Abia-Warriors in the playoffs.

After weeks of bruising hits, dramatic comebacks, and statement victories, the regular season is officially over. Now, there is no room for mistakes.

Every drive matters. Every touchdown matters. Every flag pulled could define a season.

The pressure is enormous, and the entire Showtime Flag Football community will be watching as the Lagos Knights, Ibom Raptors, Lagos Rebels, Delta Braves, Lagos Greenbacks, and Cross River Ikan battle for survival in what promises to be one of the biggest days in Nigerian flag football history.

The Abia-Warriors already secured automatic qualification after finishing top of the regular season standings, but today will determine the three teams strong enough to join them in the playoff battle for the Showtime crown.

The action begins with the Lagos Knights facing the Delta Braves in what many are calling a clash between experience and desperation. The Knights have been one of the league’s most explosive teams all season, but the Braves are arriving with confidence after recent strong performances that reignited their campaign.

At 5:20 PM, the Ibom Raptors square off against the Lagos Greenbacks in another blockbuster encounter. The Raptors remain one of the league’s most dangerous offensive teams, but the Greenbacks have become the surprise package of the season after climbing the standings with fearless football and attacking aggression.

Then comes the headline attraction.

The Lagos Rebels take on the Cross River Ikan in a matchup filled with emotion, intensity, and unfinished business. The Rebels enter the game after a ruthless 48-0 destruction of the Delta-Panthers, sending a clear warning to the rest of the league that they are peaking at the perfect time.

But the Ikan are refusing to back down.

Despite inconsistent results during the regular season, the Cross River side still believe they can shock the league and force their way into the playoffs.

Earlier in the day, the Rivers Alphas finally gave their fans something to celebrate after defeating the Ogun Horns 21-13 in a tightly contested battle. The victory lifted the Alphas into ninth place while the Horns dropped to the bottom of the standings.

Yet all attention now shifts to the Wildcard battlefield.

One night. Three games. Three playoff tickets.

And by the end of tonight, the Showtime Bowl Series XIV playoff picture will finally be complete.
