Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has lauded the strong synergy between the Federal Government and Anambra State.

This came as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Anambra to launch the community national foodbank in the Southeast as well as to commission other projects.

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his wife Mrs Nonye Soludo recieved the First lady at the Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri, and immediately proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic Oko, where the First Lady commissioned a state-of-the-art Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre, equipped to train youths in software development, data analysis, and remote-work skills.

At the Old Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Senator Oluremi Tinubu officially launched the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone. The initiative directly targets vulnerable groups—including widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers, and young children.

At the ‘Light House’, Senator Tinubu, paid a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council in Awka, the State capital.

Addressing the royal fathers, she emphasized the vital, permanent role of traditional leadership as foundational custodians of the culture and land.

“Our young people should know that there are people in charge of the land where they live,” Senator Tinubu stated, underscoring the importance of cultural respect and heritage.

Arriving at Ekwueme Square where a formal reception was held in her honour, Governor Soludo reflected on the national economic landscape, declaring that “the economy was in dire need of resuscitation when Tinubu assumed office,” and firmly backing the federal government’s macroeconomic and infrastructural agenda.

Highlighting the importance of cross-party collaboration, Governor Soludo emphasized that the partnership between the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) exemplifies a working model for national development.

To cascade these federal interventions directly to the grassroots, the Governor announced plans to integrate the state’s Onye aghana nwanne ya philosophy, revealing that every Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Anambra will soon host a community food bank.

Describing the First Lady as a compassionate, loving mother and supportive wife whose public service embodies true philanthropy, Governor Soludo also praised his wife, Nonye Soludo, for actively complementing these national interventions at the state level.

Commending her motherly role in the nation, Mrs Nonye Soludo praised the First Lady’s philanthropic gestures in her empowerment programmes to better the lives of the ordinary Nigerians across the federation.

Other Federal Ministers and Heads of Government Agencies also took turns to commend the First Lady for her initiatives in empowering the ordinary people in the country

In recognition of her impactful leadership, the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council—represented by the Traditional Ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka—conferred the prestigious traditional title of “Ugoeze” Anambra on the First Lady.

In speech, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended the traditional rulers for the title bestowed on her, declaring that Anambra has a special place in her heart and urged Nigerians to foster unity, solidarity, and continued backing for the administration’s vision for a stronger and fairer Nigeria.

The First Lady later commissioned the 5,000 empowerment initiatives by the first lady of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo and added additional N100,000 each to the 5,000 beneficiaries to support the empowerment programme.
