A 46-year old self acclaimed spiritualist, Ogbonna Torty, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly sexually assaulting a 32-year old lady by stripping her naked and tempering with her private parts in guise of spiritual deliverance.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ikotun area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the suspect, Torty, lured the victim, Beauty Ologbo and sexually assaulted her with others at large and obtained the sum of N800, 000 under the false pretence of a spiritual bath.
The lady fell into their trap after she boarded the suspect’s Volkswagen Passat private vehicle with registration number FK076BB from Oshodi and she was forcefully taken to an undisclosed location at Ikotun area and they instilled fear into her with prophecies about her life.
She was then asked to take her Ecobank ATM card to withdraw all the money in her account for the deliverance, which she did before they stripped her naked, fondled her breasts and other private part and took photographs with their phones.
Having satisfied themselves, they sent her away and asked her to come back with more money for the second stage of the spiritual deliverance.
However, she later regained her senses, went to Ikotun Police Station and reported what happened. The Police then trailed the suspect, Torty and eventually arrested him while his accomplices were said to be at large.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty before the Court.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 24th March, 2023, for mention.
