It was an excellent moment for Sports Center members, sporting press and sports enthusiasts across the country as they held their second Annual Public Lecture and Awards in Lagos.

The professional sporting body, Sports Center Lagos, had a team of top-notch personalities like the Chairperson National Women’s League, Aishat Falode, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Rtd) and first FIFA National Security Officer for Nigeria, ACP Gideon Akinsola and Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist who is currently a Chief Superintendent of Police, Chioma Ajunwa, who were all Guest Speakers at the event to speak about the way forward for Nigeria sports.

Sports Center, a professional sports body registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act,  CAMA, gathered various top personalities in the sporting world and across other professional fields to celebrate the theme: Sports Relevance, its Impact on Youths and Society and the way forward to make Sports better.

The event, which was held recently in Lagos at the White House Hotel, on Toyin Street,  Ikeja, was a memorable one, as notable people from different professional bodies were recipients of the prestigious Award.

Olatutu Oladunni, a woman of substance, who is currently the Secretary of the Caretaker Executive Committee of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, made the Lagos SWAN proud as she clinched an “Award of Excellence” for her outstanding support towards sports growth in Lagos state.

She urged each and everyone to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship as sports accommodates and does not segregate nor discriminate.

Olatutu quoted in her beautiful speech one of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quotes, saying “I will work and prepare myself because one day my time will come” and she rounded up with the Late Nelson Mandela’s speech No Easy Walk To Freedom.
