Sports Trust Fund Will Add Values To Lagos Sports Commission’s Operations, Tandoh Assures

Executive Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh has said that the operations of the Commission will be made easier with the coming of Lagos State Sports Trust Fund.

The Board of Lagos STate Sports Trust Fund headed by the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro on Tuesday in Lagos unveiled its programmes to the public, which include business of sourcing and creating adequate funding for sports development and manage these funds effectively. It is also out to build sports facilities across the state to encourage participation of the youths in sports.

Tandoh told P.M. EXPRESS that the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund is a needed intervention which has really shown the importance Governor Akinwunmi Ambode attached to sports development in the state.

“The Sports Trust Fund is an intervention agency which operations will give us at the Lagos State Sports Commission helping hands. The Sports Trust Fund is our big brother in terming of helping us with funding of many of our projects which can’t wait for budgetary allocations. When we are talking about infrastructural development and capacity building in Lagos sports, the Trust Fund will ensure that we don’t lack anything. I want to tell you both in the short and long terms lack of funding to many of our programmes will be a thing of the past,” he said.

Tandoh further disclosed that the implementation of all the disbursements from the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund will be handled by the Sports Commission, adding that there is strong synergy between the Lagos State Trust Sports Fund and the Lagos State Sports Commission.

To Ms. Moyo Ogunseinde, who is a member of the Sports Trust Fund and Chairperson of the Lagos State Gymnastics Association, the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund is a new dawn in sports, not only in Lagos but the whole Nigeria.  She said all members of the Board of the Sports Trust Fund are ready to put in their wealth of experience and connections to ensure its success and make its impact felt.

She revealed that works have been going on since the Board of the Trust Fund was inaugurated by Governor Ambode last year, adding that members have gone out to meet different companies in Lagos State and these companies have been looking forward to seeing the Sports Trust Fund begins its operations.
