Suspected Cult Hitman Remanded For Stabbing Man, 39, To Death

A 35-year old suspected cult hitman, Chinedu Oduburu, has been arrested and charged in Ebonyi State for allegedly stabbing a 39-year old man, Igboke Nwabueze, to death.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oriuzor in Ezza North Local Government Area of the State, where they reside.
The suspect, Oduburu, who is a top member of Baggars Confraternity was arrested by Police operatives from the State Command following the assassination of the deceased over an undisclosed matter.
Having been found culpable, he has been charged before the Abakaliki Magistrate Court, Ebonyi State for alleged conspiracy, murder and cultism under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Bassey Okon, told the Court that Oduburu committed the offences on 12th February, 2024, by using a dagger to unlawfully kill the deceased, Nwabueze.
He said that the offence was punishable under Section 319 of the criminal code cap 33 vol. 1, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2009, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
He further said that the defendant belonged to a secret cult group known as Baggers Confraternity in contravention of Section 3(1)(3) of the Ebonyi State Law.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court over jurisdiction because of the nature of the alleged committed by the defendant, who was remanded in custody pending the outcome of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
