Suspected Land Speculator Docked Over N13m Fraud

A suspected land grabber, Salam Abduljalili has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly obtaining over N12 million from victims and pointed to a bush as the land for them.
The victims, Asuelimen Victor and Olajide Yusuf suffered their fate after they were introduced to Abduljalili who claimed that he had some parcels of land at Ayobo in Ipaja area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered Victor paid him N9 million while Yusuf paid N4 million which they have lost in the process.
It was also learnt that Abduljalili has perfected the act by forging Lagos State Treasury receipt of the land bureau before they made payment.
However, when the victims went to take the possession of the land, they discovered that the suspect had no such land in the area.
When the suspect realised that the scam has been discovered, he went into hiding and did not return the money either.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was trailed and later arrested.
At the Police Station, Abduljalili confessed that he had no land there but he pretended that he had in order to obtain the money from the victims.
When he was asked about the money the victims paid to him, he said he had spent the money.
He was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence under the criminal law.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 19 July 2017.
