Table Tennis: Teslim Stadium Agog As National Championship Ends In Lagos (PHOTOS)

The Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos was full of frenzy during the finals of the 2021 Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) National Championships.

The weeklong tournament was climaxed on Saturday with the finals in various categories at the end of which Rilwan Akanbi of Atinuke Club of Lagos beat Taiwo Mati from Ondo State 4-3 to win the men’s singles, while

Fatima Bello of G20 Club of Abuja emerged as the winner of the women’s singles event. She defeated Bose Odusanya of Lagos state 4-1.

In the cadets’ division, 15-year-old Samuel Boboye of Bayelsa won three straight sets (12-10,11-3, 11-9) against Matthew Kuti of Lagos to win the boys’ singles event, while Cross River’s Hope Udoaka, 14, got the better of Aisha Rabiu of Lagos to win the girls’ event.

Winners in men and women singles events won for themselves the sum of N250,000 each, while U-21 and cadet champions took home N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.

The management of Lagos State Sports Commission was ably represented with the Executive Chairman, Sola Aiyepeku and the Director General, Oluwatoyin Gafaar leading other staff to add colours to the final ceremony.
