A  37-year old teacher, Adamu Ayuba, has been remanded in a correctional center in Adamawa State for allegedly defiling a 7-year old pupil inside the school.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 29th April, 2024, at Anur Modern Academy, Yola, Adamawa State, where Adam was employed as a teacher.
The defendant was arraigned before the Jimeta Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, which ordered his remand in custody after the Police had charged him for defilement, which contravened Section 211 of Penal Code Law of Adamawa State.
The prosecution counsel, Supol Ezra Bulus, told the Court that the complainant, Fatima Isah, mother of the minor, reported the matter at the Police station on 2nd May, 2024, at about 6:00 pm.
Supol Bulus alleged that the complainant’s daughter returned from school and complained of severe pains in her private part and the mother interogated her. She told the mother how her teacher, Adamu, defiled her in the school.
Thus, the matter was reported to the Police, who then arrested and charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor informed the Court that the alleged offence was criminal in nature, which requires legal advice and prayed the Court to adjourn the matter until 29th May, 2024, for the report of the legal advice from the DPP on the alleged offence to be made available.
The Chief Magistrate, Musa Adamu, adjourned the case until 29th May, 2024, for further investigation into the matter by the Police.
“This case has been adjourned until 29th May 2024, to enable the Police to finish their investigation and forward the case file to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP)for legal advice,” the Chief Magistrate said.
