Teacher & Cleaner Docked For Shaving 2-Year Old Pupil’s Hairs

A 39-year old class teacher, Bukola Olajide and 55-year old school cleaner, Dupe Akintewe, have landed in trouble in Oyo State for allegedly shaving a 2-year old pupil’s hairs inside school without the consent of the parents.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Sunshine Group of Schools, Oluyole area, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The duo had been arrested and charged before the Oyo State Family Court sitting Iyaganku in Ibadan, for conspiracy, assault and breach of peace.
They were charged before the Court following the report to the Police by the victim’s parents that they conspired and forcefully shaved the victim’s hairs inside the school without their consent.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Folake Ewe, told the Court that the two women, Olajide and Akintewe, allegedly conspired together to commit the offence by assaulting the minor in school by forcefully cutting her hair and causing her bodily harm.
“The defedants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by cutting the girl hair and putting incision there at the back of her head without the consent of her parents, ”she said.
Ewe said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 249 (d), 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, which attracts several years of imprisonment if they are tried and found guilty before the Court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs P. O. Adetuyibi, granted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties
each in like sum and one of the sureties must be a staff each from Sunshine Group of School with proof, while second sureties must be landlord of where each of the defendants resides.
The matter was adjourned till 25th May, 2023, for hearing while the defendants were remanded in the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
