Teachers Sent To Prison For Shaving Pupil’s Hair

Two female school teachers, Bukky Adamu, 25 and Ronke Adekoya, 30, have landed in trouble  after they reportedly shaved the bushy hair of a 5-year old  pupil inside the school in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Dupwal Montessori School located at Adesola Street off Sanni Balogun Road, Abule Egba area of Lagos.
They were charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and unlawfully shaving the hair of a pupil, Samuel Olayemi, without the consent of his parents.
It was gathered that the School Management had warned the students to tell their parents to shave their busy hair before coming to school or they will do it for them in the school.
However, the boy’s parents did not heed the directive from the School Management and brought him to the school with bushy hair.

During inspection, the boy’s hair was shaved and when he returned home his parents discovered it. They become angry, went to the Oko-Oba Police Station and reported what happened.
The suspects were arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged offence as his parents refused despite pleadings by the School Management and even the Police.
The defendants were arraigned in Court and they pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted them bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
However, they were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 31th March, 2020.
