Team Lagos Haul More Gold Medals On Sports Festival Day 7

Apart from two gold medals won by Team Lagos early on Wednesday, Lagos has also hauled in gold medals in Taekwondo and Ayo at the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival.
PM EXPRESS reports while two gold medals came in from taekwondo, the sport also gave Team Lagos 2 silver and 8 bronze medals in the finals decided on Wednesday.
Seun Ayedun and Inumidun Bello won gold medal in mixed doubles of Ayo event also on Wednesday. Squash produced total medals of 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. The medals were won by Larne Abdurrahman (1 gold), Olatunji Yemisi (1 gold), Wale Amao (1 silver), Adegoke Onaopemipo (1 bronze), and Olatunji Busayo (1 bronze).
Meanwhile, more medals were also won in deaf male athletics, where Bolu Friday won silver in the 100m, while Onasanya Oyindamola won a bronze medal in the 100m event.
Smart Olopede won silver medal in the men 200m swimming breaststroke event. Segun Bailey settled for bronze medal in the 100m of T45 event.
Interestingly, Team Lagos came to the Abuja games 16 boxers, but as at Wednesday night, 15 (7 female and 8 male) of the boxers are in medal zone qualifying for the semi finals of their respective weight categories. Only one boxer lost out in the 75kg category at Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment at Asokoro area of the FCT.
In other results, Lagos football lost to Team FCT 3-1 in the semi final played at the practice pitch of the Abuja National Stadium. They will be playing their third place match against Nasarawa who lost 2-3 to Bayelsa on Friday.
Team Lagos also lost their basketball (male) match against Rivers State with 59-85 points, while Lagos qualify for Friday’s final in the cricket male event after beating FCT by 68 runs.
Team Lagos male team worked over Gombe in the volleyball male team to qualify for the semi final scheduled for Friday.
