Team Strength Are Champions At LSSC Sports Fiesta

It has been an eventful, entertaining and healthy competition at Lagos State Sports Commission LSSC, End-of-Year Sports Fiesta held at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, as Team Strength emerged overall champions.

The men and women of Grand (Matron) Mrs Oshodi-Eko Titilayo, Director Public Affairs and Grand (Patron) Elder Omoloju Oluwasegun, Director Administration and Human Resources performed excellently in all the Games having showed their dominance to remain top on the medals table.

All the teams with the support of their matrons and patrons demonstrated resilience and attributes of sportsmanship by competing fairly in a serene environment created by the top management of the LSSC, steering by the Director General, Oluwatoyin Gafaar.

History has been made as Team Strength is the first side to win the highest gold medals in a sports fiesta with the mantra of “STRONGER2GETHER” to promote and encourage strong ethical values and a sense of integrity amongst the members of staff.

Catching the train, egg race , volleyball , badminton and Tug O’War finals were also concluded.

Another interesting part of the event on day-4, is the grit and zeal produce in the volleyball final between Team Strength and Commitment shaking the floor and keeping spectators amaze, which later ended in favour of the team on yellow. attire.

Team Strength with 44 points scooped 7 gold, 10 silver and 3 bronze medals; Team Unity garnered 38 points, 6 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals.While Commitment scored 36 points, went home with the total number of 6 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals. The last Team at the bottom is Peace which settled for 3 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals with an accumulated 20 points.

Director General, Lagos State 7Sports Commission Oluwatoyin Gafaar, presented medals to the winners in the different sports.

Overall champions await the presentation of the giant trophy and other prizes as the grand party holds today, at the volleyball Court,Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that the week-long event was kicked off with a medical outreach after the which staff, both junior and senior took part in various indoor and field sports of their choice.

Grouped into four houses, the hostilities to win medals got tougher since Tuesday, but at the end of the competition Thursday evening, Team Strength showed their supremacy as they carted home 44 points with a total of 20 medals of 7 gold, 10 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Followed in the second position are Team Unity who garnered 38 points with 19 medals of 6 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze.

Team Commitment are in the third position after winning 36 points that gave them 6 gold, 4 bronze and 10 bronze medals, while Team Peace won 20 points with 3 gold, 2 bronze and 7 bronze medals.

The Director General of the Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar, praises the resilience of all the participating staff in the sporting events, even as he enjoined them to take physical exercise serious at all time.

Meanwhile, Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere will be a beehive of activities Friday afternoon as the grand finale of the Stronger2gether Sports Fiesta is rounded up with a party and carol service.

Director General, Oluwatoyin Gafaar said that the Year 2023 has been a wonderful year for the management and staff of the Sports Commission, hence the need to wine and dine while giving the Almighty God all praises and honour.
