TG Expo To Hold Maiden Edition Of Machinery, Metal And Steel Exhibition

TG Expo, an international trade fair organiser, will host the first ever Machinery, Metal & Steel Exhibition in Nigeria at the Expo Center of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos from 18 to 20 October 2017.

The 3-day event, that will have in attendance industry professionals and government officials, will showcase products like pipes, tubes, wire, cables, sheet metal, environment protection, energy conservation, filtration and separation, nano-technologies, induction furnace and heat treatment, safety equipment and technology and smelting and refining in the industrial products industry to name a few.

The fair is also expected to attract manufacturers and suppliers, machinery and technology professionals, equipment and technology professionals and technology services experts.

Base metals and metal products will also be showcased at the exhibition as they are mainly used by oil and construction industry, where both the Nigerian government and private sector are heavily investing in.

Being a member state of ECOWAS, Nigeria acts as a trade gateway to other West African states. Nigeria, with its 1.1 Trillion USD GDP (PPP) and population of 186 million is the largest economy in Africa and due to recovering oil prices, Nigeria is expected to record positive growth rate in 2017.

A Central Bank of Nigeria report shows that Nigeria currently imports steel, aluminum products and associated derivatives of approximately 25 metric tones per annum estimated at $4.5 billion.

In 2015, Nigeria imported $4.5 Billion worth of iron and steel goods.

This makes the country 52nd largest importer in the world with machinery and metal & metal products as its major imports.

Nigeria’s major aluminum imports include aluminum plates, profiles, structures, bars and doors, windows and their frames & thresholds.

These product groups account for 18% of Nigeria’s entire imports.

Nigeria is a net importer of machinery as its imports in 2015 amounted to 4.52 billion USD. 11.1% of Nigeria’s aggregate imports in 2015 were machinery imports.

Nigeria’s top machinery imports include taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances for pipes, boiler shells, tanks used in oil industry, machines and mechanical appliances having individual functions and pumps for liquids, whether or not fitted with a measuring device.
