The Amazing Political Trajectory Of The APC As A Political Party In Ebonyi State 

The APC which became a ruling party in Ebonyi State with the defection of the former Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi, the Honourable Minister of Works, has grown to become a party of unity, progress and development of the State irrespective of the murky waters created against its survival by antediluvian theorists and dooms day political prophets. Nonetheless, the party’s successful connection of the state to the center heralded  positive changes which Ebonyians now relish with testimonies of bliss.

Many thanks to the leadership of Their Excellencies, Senator Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi and Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for being instrumental to the many successes the APC has recorded in Ebonyi state. Besides, their vision, determination and inclusive leadership style have garnered support from stakeholders, party members and indeed the good people of Ebonyi state. Again, the robust reconciliation efforts of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha and his team have also played crucial roles in uniting the party and ensuring a smooth transition of power in the State.

Obviously, the accomplishments of the  APC in Ebonyi state are evident in the improved governance of the people, infrastructural development, human capital, workers’ welfare which has witnessed astronomical payments of backlog of gratuities and pensions of retirees since 1996, payments of Christmas largesse of N100,000 each to every worker, N10,000 pay increase per worker, approval of additional five years of service for teachers, approval of workers’ promotions for 2022, 2023 and 2024, and so many others. These feats became possible because the party provided the state with competent and visionary leadership that has created an environment where all members, regardless of party affiliations and nexus, feel welcomed, valued and cherished.

It is also for the above reason that former members of the opposition parties in the State are daily defecting to the APC; so much so that the ruling party has become the most beautiful bride. This is affirmative of leadership excellence which Rt. Hon. Nwifuru has enthroned since his inauguration as the 4th Executive Governor of Ebonyi State and everyone is palpably happy.

More so, the State Working Committee of the party is one that works in unison and in partnership for the progress of the State to the point that no issue of grievance of any member is left unaddressed. This invariably sustains confidence and camaraderie in the SWC and engenders mutuality in love, peace and sense of belonging among colleagues in the mechanism and machinery of the party operations which equally contributed to the party’s landslide victory in the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi State.

On security of lives and property of Ebonyians, Governor Nwifuru demonstrates that safety of the people is the greatest law by putting measures in place with the State Security Chiefs, for intelligence gathering and proactive methodology as the best means of combating crimes and criminality in Ebonyi State. This has to a larger extent put insecurity at bay in the State and restored confidence of Ebonyi people in the State security apparatus and the general architecture of governance of the people.

What more? Under the APC led administration of Governor Nwifuru, our health centers which were walking from moribundity to obscurity have been salvaged intoto and reactivated for optimum performance as operational vehicles have been given to medical doctors to ease the discharge of their duties particularly at the hinterland.

It is also noteworthy that the State overseas scholarship has been reactivated and Ebonyi scholars are earning these scholarships from the State government to study abroad pro bono in the areas of science, computer and Internet communication technology. This is part and parcel of the youth/women empowerment that is demonstrably on ground. What of the fertilizer plant that had went almost comatose? The APC government has  infused oxygen into the plant to the point that it yields monthly internal revenue of over N200million. This is the highest IGR the State hard earned in recent times.

The robust and exceptional cordial relationship that exists between the party and the government is top-notch and phenomenal. It is based on this glaring facts of leadership excellence that those politicians who were formerly in the opposition are falling over themselves to join the APC and join hands with the APC government in power in making Ebonyi State greater.

The future is indeed brighter for the APC in Ebonyi state as more and more people are joining the party in droves and supporting its vision for a better and more prosperous state anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs. Of a truth, the continued leadership of the APC under Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as Governor of Ebonyi State and Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as State party administrator, the party is poised to continue its trajectory of success and bring about even more positive changes in Ebonyi state in the years to come.
