The Fight Against Covid-19 Must Be Taken Seriously – Hon. Bello

Posted on July 13, 2020

Following the increasing number of Covid-19 cases across the country with special focus on Lagos State, the President of OJB Foundation, Hon. Olaide John Bello (OJB), said that the time has come for the fight against Covid-19 to be taken more seriously.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, Hon. OJB expressed his worry over the attitude of the populace to the fight against the dreaded virus.

Hon. OJB said, “Honestly, I’m worried about the attitude of our people towards the fight against Covid-19. It’s rather disturbing that a good number of people still don’t believe in the existence of the virus ravaging the countries of the world. It shows in our daily attitudes; for many nothing has changed. They still go about their lives as if nothing has been happening”.

“Across Nigeria, we’ve lost dignitaries and ordinary citizens. In Lagos State, respected leaders have also died as a result of Covid-19 yet many don’t take the fight against the pandemic serious. The State Government has over the last couple of months shown huge capacity in the handling of the situation. But the residents should equally help by abiding with the precautionary measures reeled out in order to help contain the spread of the virus.”

“I’m in full support of punitive measures for citizens not wearing their facemasks or observing social distancing. We need to be very serious about the fight against the dreaded virus so that more lives can be saved and the spread curtailed reasonably” Hon. OJB said.
