The New Face Of Town Union And Community Administration Must Be Governed By Law, Not Theatrics
Posted on September 4, 2022

If there is one thing every one must know about community or town union administration in modern time, it is that its entire leadership and administrative process is governed largely by Law than oral tradition. This is why Communities or Towns have written constitutions, and where that exist, it must derive from extant laws of the State with its precepts not running ultra vires established Laws of the State.
So, before you believe self professed “pens of the gods” or some phoney fellows who ride on the wavecrest of pervasive ignorance, remember that the State is obligated by Law to maintain law and order even for the “gods” to enjoy their due. So far, the Soludo administration has made significant progress in settling lingering community and town union leadership squabbles which, more often than not, are caused by few egotistic individuals bent on controlling the affairs of the people by subverting popular demand. It is true some of these individuals rely on the active connivance of corrupt public officers to legitimise their actions. However, the Solution government is committed to taking legitimacy back to where it belongs — the people.
As this is happening, it means public officials have become more circumspect under the current administration in handling the local affairs of the people, especially where the Laws are clear. That said, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and community affairs, Mr. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, has decisively moved in to ensure stability in community and town union leadership across the State. And the records, so far, are commendable.
The resort to hiring hatchet writers to demean this process is part of the reactive measures from egotistic individuals with self serving mandates having noticed that public officers under the Soludo administration will no longer “play ball”. Therefore, whether it is town union palava or Igweship tussle, the State is resolved to ensure strict adherence to the rule of Law.
It is therefore expected that community members must rein in on their emotions and be ready to subject to constituted authority. This new Sheriff in town is not given to theatrics, and we all are called upon to always focus on the letters of the Law in measuring our conduct and disposition to issues.
