The Rise And Fall Of PDP In Ngor Okpala

Ordinarily, the the just concluded by-election in Ngor Okpala Local Government area of Imo State, would have gone simply just like any other of its type across Nigeria, but for the hype, and infantile boasting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.

Prior to the election which held on Saturday, 26th February, 2022, across all the political wards in Ngor Okpala, the PDP obviously struggling to whip up cheap sentiments for itself, resorted to pernicious propaganda, and blackmail against the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma. The party unleashed ridiculous press releases and series of pedestrian news items, wherein it struggled to paint the governor black with tattered paint brush, while professing a sanctimonious picture of itself and its never – do-well leaders.

But as the saying goes, “the hood does not make the monk.” Whilst PDP busied itself with ludicrous, and reckless propaganda, APC, its candidate, Blyden Amajirionwu and the party’s Supreme leader in Imo State, Governor Hope Uzodimma chose to rather embark on vigorous political campaigns across the length and breath of Ngor Okpala.

Recall that PDP is yet to account for the whereabouts of the serial truant it sent to the Imo State House of Assembly, Tochi Okereke. Up to the day of election, Ngor Okpala people were kept in the dark as to Okereke whereabouts, or why he chose to disgrace them in the House. Their leaders instead of begging for forgiveness, unleashed their media rascals to attack Governor Hope Uzodimma unjustifiably,as if Ngor Okpala people are fools.

PDP leaders forgot that for everything under the sun, there is a time. And the time for the good people of Ngor Okpala to repay PDP for foisting a truant on them in the person of Tochi Okereke was on February 26, 2022. Like Shylock in the Merchant of Venice by the iconic Williams Shakespeare, the Ngor Okpala people on that day, drew their pound of flesh from the PDP, and their godfathers.

To political pundits, the down fall of PDP in Ngor Okpala even took place before the by-election. In this 21st century, no people with healthy sight ever allow the blind to lead them. To Ngor Okpala people, it is over with PDP’s misdemeanor. They have chosen to divorce themselves from the unholy marriage with PDP, which has brought them nothing useful other than emotional and physical anguish, acrimony amongst brothers, promise- and- fail stunts, and continuous domination by their “nwa nwa.”

APC’s victory in Ngor Okpala therefore, signals the beginning of a new dawn, an era of prosperity, sincerity in leadership and a NO to imposition. It also marks the nunc dimitis of truancy, unfaithfulness to promises made, lies, and deceit.

The election most importantly, confirms the political mastery of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the man with the midas touch. The Governor without equivocation or prevaricating is indeed, a true reflection of the axiom, “action speaks louder than voice”. 

Congrats to the good people of Ngor Okpala! Congrats to Blyden Amajirionwu!! Congrats to APC!!!
