Themba Gorimbo, the Zimbabwean-born mixed martial arts sensation, will be the focus of this weekend’s edition of African Voices Changemakers, CNN International’s magazine programme, sponsored by Globacom.

The programme highlights Gorimbo, the Zimbabwean-born UFC fighter’s journey from a turbulent upbringing to international sporting success, defiling the odds to make it to the global stage.

In an intimate conversation, Gorimbo opens up about his turbulent past, from smuggling diamonds as a teenager to narrowly escaping death while crossing into South Africa. He explained how these experiences shaped his mental strength and determination to turn his life around through sport.

The 30-miute magazine programme highlights Gorimbo’s story of resilience, accountability, and self-belief as he shares how he turned adversity into motivation. This episode is a testament to the human spirit and a reminder that with focus, courage, and purpose, you can rise beyond your circumstances and create a new path forward.

The programme is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.; Sunday at 4:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.; Monday at 4:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.; and Tuesday at 6:45 p.m to accommodate audiences across different time zones.
