Thieves Invade Police Barracks To Steal Seized Motorcycle, Phones

An alleged thief, Yusuf Babatunde has been arrested and charged to court for allegedly sneaking into the police barracks located at Olosan Police Division in Mushin, Lagos and stole a Bajaj Motorcycle.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect, and others at large, stormed Block One in the Barracks where the motorcycle with registration number QN 601 KJA belonging to one Bello Emmanuel was parked and attempted to drive it out.
The suspects had almost succeeded in taking the motorcycle out from the barracks before one of the residents raised an alarm.
While Babatunde was apprehended, his cohorts escaped.
He was later charged before Ogba Magistrates’ court with stealing under the Criminal Code .
He pleaded not guilty .
The presiding Magistrate, Mr M.K.O Fadeyi granted Babatunde bail in the sum N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 10 April 2017.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that there have been an upsurge in all sorts of criminal activities within the Olosan police barracks lately.
Recently, the office of the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO, in Olosan was reportedly broken into with some of his personal effects including phones stolen.
This has fueled the suspicion that either the officers were bringing criminals to the station or there are unscrupulous character among the officers at the station or within the barracks.
