Two Leaders, One Vision, Two First Ladies, One Cause
— MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA

There is a kind of partnership that excites — when leaders and their spouses share common interests and approach service together.

Sixteen (16) months ago, Governor Charles Soludo hosted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Anambra State for the commissioning of landmark, jinx-breaking projects. The New Anambra Government House and Governor’s Lodge “The Light House”, the Solution Fun City, and other signature projects were unveiled. The camaraderie reflected true friendship forged through shared vision and a practical understanding of governance — not mere political convenience.

On Thursday, we saw the wives of these two great leaders unite again for a common cause. The launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is purpose-aligned with the work already being done by Mrs. Nonye Soludo.

Through her “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” campaign, Mrs. Soludo has advanced nutrition and maternal-child health in Anambra. Her “Squash Pap” innovation — aimed at reducing malnutrition — has reached thousands of nursing mothers and children across the 21 LGAs, directly supporting Anambra’s push to improve household nutrition and child health outcomes.

The scope may have expanded with the Food Bank. But what stands out is that both Her Excellencies, Senator Remi Tinubu and Mrs. Nonye Soludo, share a deep passion for the vulnerable, the poor, and the underprivileged in society.
There is a lesson here, when friendships are forged on principle and vision, they endure and inspire hope in others. Above all, humanity thrives better with this kind of value-based partnership.
