It was double jeopardy for a 14-year old girl in Lagos State, who was gang raped by two men and impregnated, as she does not know who actually impregnated her between the two men.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the wo men,  Jerry Oladimeji, 27 and Ariyo Jimoh, 37 have been arrested and charged for allegedly gang raping the victim and getting her pregnant in the process.

The incident happened between October,2024 and March,2025 at Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police,  the suspects lured the victim on two different occasions, gang raped, warned her not to tell anyone and she kept it to herself.

However, after several months, she became pregnant and her parents took her to the hospital, where the Doctor confirmed that she was pregnant. She then revealed what happened but was unable to identify who impregnated her among the suspects.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and they were arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for further investigation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, Jerry Oladimeji ‘M’ and Ariyo Jimoh ‘M’ sometimes in October 2024 and March 2025 at Ibeju Lekki axis Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial district, did defile one girl ‘F’ 14 years by forcefully having unlawful canal knowledge of her and impregnated her, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

However,  the Court did not take their plea after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, ordered their remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
