U-13 JOF Kids Cup: Sponsor Increases Prize Monies, As Final Ceremony Holds 2 May

Impressed with the standard and performance of play of the teams taking part in the second edition of U-12 JOF Kids Football Championship, sponsor and financier of the grassroots tournament, JOF Nigeria Limited has magnanimously increased the prize monies to the winners.


First position winning prize in the first edition last year was N200,000 while N150,000, N100,000 and N50,000 were given to the second, third and fourth positions respectively. But this year, JOF Nigeria Limited says it will give first place team the sum of N300,000, while second place team receive N200,000, third position will take home N150,000, while the fourth place team get N100,000. Apart from the prize money, trophies will also be given to winners, while outstanding players of the tournament will receive various gift items.


The new winning prize regime was revealed on Tuesday in Lagos during the media briefing held at the Corporate Headquarters of JOF Nigeria Limited ahead of the final ceremony billed for Sunday, 2 May, 2021 at the Campos Mini Stadium on Lagos Island.


Adeyinka Adetunji, Director Strategic Support Services, JOF Nigeria Limited told the sporting media that the company is delighted to partner the organiser, Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association to bring a platform where young football talents would be discovered. The talents, according to him, have prospects of brining glories to their families and the country.


“In JOF Nigeria Limited, as a corporate organisation, we strongly believe we have a duty to encourage, support and project this type of competition and other constructive youth events in our country.”


According to Adetunji, the final match between Ayo Babes of Ajeromi and Jnr. Arsenal, which kick off by 3pm on Sunday will be preceded by the third place match between Prince Boys of Lekki and AZ Zola Babes from Ijegun, which starts by 1pm.


Meanwhile, the executive of Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association has heaped praises on the CEO of JOF Nigeria Limited, Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun for his support for the future of Nigerian youths with the sponsorship of the tournament, which has been christened ‘A Youth Development Initiative’.


“We are happy to inform that two players from the first edition of the competition have been scouted and recruited into Lagos State U-13 team. We are hereby assuring you that this is just a tip of the iceberg as the second edition will produce many good players.”

Sponsored by JOF Nigeria Limited, the second U-13 JOF Kids Cup, which kicked off on 27 February, is a 32-team tournament being played in knockout basis.
